January

The Brown household has been busy this new year so far. We continue to make improvements on the house as we are able, and right now are focusing on the hallway. Shane has finished the floors (removed the sticky tile and restored the original wood) and we have a new light fixture. The walls are currently being worked on, as we must remove some of the texture and paint still. Shane also continues to practice his banjo skills, and Adaline enjoys listening and sometimes playing along! I received a gift certificate from Shane for Christmas to take an adult jazz class and have been to 3 so far. I have 3 more to go, and am enjoying it. I may just have to take another. Sorry...no pictures for that!

Adaline has been getting in some good naps, but still fights sleep. We know she is tired when she sticks her butt in the air and starts to grab whatever is nearby to hold in her hand while she sucks her fingers. I have found her holding some funny objects to fall asleep with...

Adaline is getting better at picking up her puffs, getting them to her mouth, and eating them, but she still gets choked up on non-baby foods. We are still practicing. She does have one tooth to work with now, on the bottom front, and perhaps another on the way shortly. Hopefully this will help with her chewing skills.

The weather here in NC has been extra cold for us, even for January. Luckily, Adaline has gotten some nice winter weather gifts to keep her nice and toasty. I think she likes them!

We spent last weekend traveling to visit some family since we had a long weekend. We first traveled to Tennessee to see my grandparents in Athens, and then stopped by in Hendersonville on the way home to see Shane's great aunt, Dot. Due to the 40 closure, we took a way trough Virginia to get into TN and it was a great drive there. Unfortunately, we took the 40 detour on the way home, and ended up spending almost our entire Monday in the car. However, we were able to have nice visits and enjoyed catching up. I think Adaline was able to brighten some spirits along the way as well.
